The decrepit state of this poorly signposted museum, housed in a waterside mansion, suggests that few visitors find their way here. Shame, because the collection of Turkish art on display in the high-ceilinged halls includes some fine pieces.
It all dates from the mid 19th to mid 20th century, mostly Orientalist in style. Look out for several notable works by Osman Hamdi Bey, one-time director of the Archaeology Museum. To find the museum, walk down the side-street south of the Naval Museum, pass through the gateway with the armed guard, cross the waterfront plaza and turn right at the end; it's the building on the left.
